Aaron Mclean free to leave Hull City

AARON Mclean will not be offered any guarantees over his Hull City future when he returns from a loan spell with Ipswich Town at the end of the season.

Mclean, who is ineligible to face his parent club tomorrow, has spent the last three months at Portman Road after he was allowed to move away from East Yorkshire in January.

Just four starts for Mick McCarthy's side have made it a frustrating period for Mclean and it appears increasingly likely he will return to the City fold ahead of the 2013-14 season.

That will be the final year of his current deal with the Tigers and manager Steve Bruce has hinted Mclean will be made available for a permanent transfer this summer.

"Aaron needs to go and play games," said Bruce. "We sent him out on loan and to be fair, it's not worked out as he would have liked at Ipswich.

"We'll all see what the future has in store this summer but he needs to go and find a home really.

"He was disappointed that he wasn't playing here and I'm sure it'll be the same next season if he's not playing every week. I can't guarantee him that here unfortunately."

City will look to cash in on Mclean, who is 30 next month, and recoup a portion of the £1.3m that brought him from Peterborough in January 2011.

Although Mclean arrived at the KC Stadium with a formidable strike rate, 12 goals in 80 games have not done enough to persuade Bruce of his worth.
