WITHERNSEA: A playground in the town which was forced to close due to vandalism has been "partly reopened".
The main part of the £700,000 Millennium Green and Play Park in Withernsea is now accessible to the public thanks to voluntary donations and a kind-hearted carpenter.
Its infants' play area remains closed.
The playground opened three years ago, but was forced to close after repeated attacks by vandals .
Michelle Gouldesbro, from Charity Withernsea and Holderness Play Action, said a local carpenter had fixed most of the broken equipment.
She said: "He did the work for free and has done a brilliant job.
"The playground is now mostly accessible to the public and we hope the infants' play area will be open soon.
"But if the playground is attacked by vandals again, we won't have the funds in reserve to repair the damage."
The group, which runs the park, is hoping for further donations to restore the playground to its former glory.
