PETER Gentle says all talk inside Hull FC of where they could finish the season has been stopped with a clear focus put on the here and now.
The Aussie coach was refusing to get carried away after his side secured successive wins for the first time this season with a 28-8 victory over Catalan at the KC Stadium.
Insisting Hull will retain their focus and move on to Salford on Saturday with nothing else in their mind but another two points, Gentle says any other talk of winning runs or chances of a top-four finish will not be tolerated.
"We will not get too far ahead of ourselves. We have cut all the talk about where we will finish and what we have to do," Gentle said.
"We have to win each game each week and that is all we are focussing on. We'll enjoy this win, but it is Salford next and we are now focussed on that only.
"We have spoken about it being two steps forward and one step back at times during the year, at the moment we are stepping forward."
Hull took a seemingly big step forward with a comfortable win over the Dragons, building on their Easter Monday victory at Wakefield.
Two tries each for Tom Lineham and Ben Crooks, and a score for Tom Briscoe capped a much-improved team performance which once again saw stand-off Richard Horne stand out as man-of-the-match.
"Richard was our best player. Our forwards were very good against an enormous pack, and that gave Rich a platform to play off," added Gentle.
"He's been great week in and week out for us this season. That result has been coming for a while.
"The first half was a bit of a battle with not a lot in it, but someone had to put their hand up and dictate the speed of the game and I think we did that.
"That's two good wins now, but we won't be getting carried away. We have Salford next and we don't want to slip up."
The result leaves FC sitting ninth in the Super League table, two wins from a top-four position.
DANNY Tickle will go for a scan today to discover the extent of a leg injury which forced him off in the second half yesterday.
