Hundreds of civil servants in East Yorkshire are involved in a mass walkout today in a dispute over pensions and pay.
Members of the Public and Commercial Services Union went on strike at 2pm in protest at a one per cent pay cap being imposed by the Government.
Strikers include workers at Hull Crown Court, benefits offices and Hull Jobcentre.
Mike Degnan, Hull branch secretary for the Department of Work and Pensions, said offices remained open but services were likely to have been affected.
He said: "We've had a reasonable response in benefits offices and the Land Registry.
"We're faced with a one per cent cap on pay increases when inflation is running at three per cent or more.
"Members face a cut in real terms to their living standards."
