JAMIE Shaul admits his two-try debut for Hull FC in victory at Wakefield was a 'dream come true'.
The 20-year-old former Skirlaugh star produced a man-of-the-match display as the Black and Whites returned to winning ways with a 34-22 success.
And Shaul admits it was something he could never have imagined when working as a bricklayer just two years ago.
"It's a dream come true. I've always dreamed of playing for Hull and to make my debut was fantastic," Shaul told the Mail.
"I was bricklaying two years ago and I never thought then I would be pulling a Hull FC jersey on. This is not something I expected or every thought would happen, but it's what I dreamed of."
Having been handed a professional contract in the off-season, Shaul has endured a frustrating time so far as a dual registration deal with York saw him played on the wing, before he picked up an injury.
However, with the Easter weekend taking its toll on Peter Gentle's squad, he was handed the call he's awaited, and took his chance to make a big impression at full-back.
"I found out on Saturday I was playing, but Peter Gentle had told me the week before there was a chance I'd be playing on the Monday, so I prepared myself throughout the week," he said.
"I had a few nerves when I first ran out, but once the game started I felt okay. In the build-up over the weekend I tried to keep my mind off the game."
When it came to the crunch, Shaul delivered the goods, and was the man who inspired Hull to turn around a 10-point deficit when racing home for a spectacular 60-metre try.
"I just pinned my ears back and went for it," said Shaul, recalling his moment of magic.
"It was a good quick play-the-ball by Danny Tickle and I managed to get away and then saw the space. I didn't notice anyone chasing me."
