East Riding Council will be urged today to adopt a zero-tolerance approach when dealing with people who don't clean up after their dogs.
Cllr Mally Boatman will be asking the authority to give parking enforcement officers powers to issue penalty notices for dog fouling.
Cllr Boatman said: "In the last year alone, the authority has received more than 500 complaints from concerned residents about the state of pavements in the area.
"Allowing parking enforcement officers to take action against people who don't clean up after their dog would greatly increase the council's capacity to deal with this problem and send a message that we won't put up with dog fouling on our streets."
