HE HAS been credited as one of the country's best blues artists from humble roots.
Hull's Andrew McLatchie, known as Half Deaf Clatch, has been nominated for Best Original Song at the British Blues Awards 2013.
He receives encores when he supports other artists and is often seen at Sesh in Princes Avenue and at the Adelphi.
With just a guitar, a slide and an amplified stomp-board, Andrew produces a sound big enough for an entire band.
The musician, 38, of Anlaby, was nominated by a DJ at BBC Shetland and said he was "shocked" that his song I'm No Superman had received so much attention.
He said: "I was told at 5.30am and couldn't tell anyone else.
"I also couldn't announce it on Facebook for two weeks but it was very exciting.
"I've been playing guitar since I was 11 but only started getting into blues three years ago.
"My first gig was at the Old Zoological on Princes Avenue and it went really well."
He said his unusual stage name comes from his friends taking the Mickey out of him.
"People are too lazy to say my last name so they call me Clatch," he said.
"I also have tinnitus and struggle to hear people talking in loud rooms so my friends always joke about it.
"It doesn't really affect my music and I thought, as a blues artist, it was a good name."
After a public vote, Andrew, who works for Humberside Fire and Rescue, will find out if he is through to the final nominations for the awards, held in Colne in Lancashire.
"Since my nomination, sales of my song have quadrupled and it would mean a lot to me to win the award," he said.
"My mum Barbara won't shut up about it and it's another way for me to promote my music.
"It's great that DJs have heard my songs and think they are good enough to win awards.
"But, at the end of the day, I just wanted to perform my songs, I didn't start doing this to become famous."
