THEY are the community heroes who spent their summer holidays making the area a better place to live.
Now, these young people have been filmed for a new DVD to inspire others to take part in this year's Humberside Police Lifestyle challenge.
The project team, along with the film crew, visited four teams who took part last year.
Among those being filmed were the Daisy Chains, of Cottingham, who have just returned from their first prize trip to America.
Sisters Bridget, 13, and Chloe Allenby, 15, and friends Shannon Bell, 15, and Aimee Hatton, 13, raised awareness of sun safety as well as creating a sensory room at Cottingham Pre-school.
Bridget said: "Lifestyle made our summer action-packed.
"We had a goal to work towards, we were never bored, and we constantly met up with each other to do our project.
"It is a great way to spend time with your friends while achieving something amazing."
Chloe said: "Splashing the cash we had raised was one of our favourite parts and the final sensory room we constructed was magical.
"Seeing the children's happy faces and knowing our sensory room would make a difference in those children's development was one of the most rewarding parts of the project as well as knowing we were helping people keep safe in the sun."
The Lifestyle project challenges young people aged ten to 16 to team up with their friends and decide on a project to benefit their local community.
This year marks Lifestyle's 25th anniversary.
In this time, Lifestylers have worked more than two-and-a- half million hours and the project has attracted more than 151,000 participants all working towards improving the quality of life in the area they live.
The Ultras, of Hedon, who raised funds for Dove House Hospice, volunteered in a local residential home and created a sensory garden for residents, were also filmed for the DVD, which will be shown in hundreds of schools in the Humberside Police area.
The Pre-School Pixies spoke about their project to develop an outdoor play area at Priory Children's Centre in Priory Road, west Hull, and Just 4 Kids were filmed talking about their fundraising for Cash For Kids and Sunshine House and their work gardening at a residential school for children with learning difficulties.
Michelle Smith was adult advisor for the group, which included Maisie Foster, ten, sisters Danyela, 13, and Yasemin Kahramanog, 11, and Ellie Smith, ten.
"The filming was amazing and the group really enjoyed taking part," she said.
"It opened their eyes a lot and it has shown them what they can achieve.
"This have set themselves even bigger challenges and goals this year."
Lifestyle officially launches on May 8, when teams will be able to register to take part in the project and receive one of the limited edition 25th anniversary T-shirts along with a project pack.
