HULL City midfielder Seyi Olofinjana has joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan until the end of the season, effectively ending his four-year association with the Tigers.
Without a Championship start since November, Olofinjana has been allowed to join the Championship strugglers ahead of tomorrow's emergency loan deadline for Football League clubs.
A move to Hillsborough means Olofinjana has almost certainly played his final game in City colours.
The Nigerian's lucrative four-year contract is due to expire in June and will be free to leave the KC Stadium in a permanent transfer as manager Steve Bruce reshapes his squad.
Signed from Stoke City for £3m in the summer of 2009, an injury-plagued Olofinjana has dramatically failed to live up to expectations.
Although he spent the 2010-11 season on loan with Cardiff City, it is estimated that the Nigerian will have collected approximately £6m in wages during his four years on the Tigers books.
In return, City saw just 24 starts and one solitary goal from the midfielder.
With Aaron Mclean, Paul McKenna, Cameron Stewart, Mark Cullen, Jamie Devitt, Danny East, Sonny Bradley and Dougie Wilson already elsewhere, Olofinjana becomes the ninth player allowed to leave on loan by Bruce since the turn of the year.
