ASSEM Allam says he could not have dreamed of appointing a better manager at Hull City than Steve Bruce.
Having taken over from Nick Barmby in the summer, Bruce has led the Tigers to second spot in the Championship with just eight games of the season remaining.
It has come as Bruce has been repeatedly backed by the club owners in the transfer market, with the manager often quick to praise the support he has had from the boardroom.
But Allam says that is down to himself and son Ehab having total confidence in the man they appointed last summer.
"We trust Steve," Allam says when asked how his manager has repeatedly convinced him to spend on new players.
"Steve Bruce is someone whose judgement and management we trust."
Allam insists it is not just on the field that Bruce has made a big impact.
"He is experienced, his managerial qualities are clear and his discipline is excellent as you would expect from his Manchester United experience," he said.
"He is very good with the players and the backroom, and also very good with the fans and the media, which is important. He is first class as a person.
"We realised that we needed to spend money to get the right manager and we were successful.
"When you get the right manager you find that is the first step to strengthening your squad and progressing.
"A good manager gets 80 per cent of his decisions right. There is no such thing as 100 per cent – 80 per cent is the best you can get and he has done much better than that this year.
"I don't think any of us here in August had imagined or dreamed of talking about automatic promotion.
"Our dream was to be in the play-offs. Now we have been in the top two for a while, which is very good.
"It looks promising and we can only do our best, and in Steve Bruce we are lucky to have a very good manager.
"We couldn't have dreamt of a better man.
"We have a good squad and very good, committed players and, with only eight matches left, I believe five wins will get us to the Premier League."
