Hull City say Paul McShane is facing 16 weeks of rehabilitation on his ankle injury.
The club confirmed today the defender will play no part in the Championship run-in.
The news comes after the Irish international's ankle injury was assessed by surgeon James Calder, renowned for treating some of the top names in sport.
McShane is now facing four months of rehabilitation.
Last week, manager Steve Bruce said the injury would not affect McShane's chances of securing a new contract with the Tigers.
