ADAM Pearson says reaching the Challenge Cup final has to be an objective for Hull FC in 2013.
The Hull owner is optimistic the club's aim can be achieved, saying the chance to lead out the Black and Whites at Wembley would be his proudest day in sport.
Pearson's involvement with the prestigious cup competition ended at the first attempt last season when Hull were knocked out at home by Huddersfield Giants.
Hull last won the cup in 2005 and reached the final again in 2008, but have had a patchy record in the interim years.
Pearson is hopeful a kinder draw in early rounds, and a healthier squad, will enable the club to reap the rewards which come with a Wembley appearance.
"I really would like a good cup run this season," Pearson told the Mail.
"We had the cup come along at a really bad time for us last season.
"We had a lot of injuries and got a tough draw against Huddersfield. We were up on them but couldn't hold on and it wasn't to be.
"I'd hope we get a nicer draw this season in the first game to help us ease ourselves into it. If we have a full squad to go at the competition this season then I think we have a real chance in the cup.
"It is something we want to do. We want to get to Wembley.
"If I could lead Hull FC out at Wembley it would be my greatest day in sport and would give me real pride. It is a fantastic setting, it puts a whole boost into the club getting to the final and it has to be a big objective for the season.
"Financially it is an incentive. Things are tough out there and we have to earn every penny. There is no doubt success on the pitch and a run in the cup would help the club."
