COMEDIAN Norman Collier has passed away aged 87 after a seven year battle with Parkinson's Disease.
He died last night at Brough Manor Residential Care Home.
Norman was born on Christmas Day in 1925 and was devoted to Lucy - his wife of more than 60 years - his three children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His career spans more than six decades and the funnyman was well-known for his 'faulty microphone' routine and chicken impressions.
His daughter Karen and son-in-law John Ainsley, both 57, have described him as a "kind, decent and hilarious man" who found joy in making people laugh.
They said: "Norman was someone who never courted fame or fortune and the man he was on stage was the same man he was in day-to-day life.
"We were all close to him and there aren't any words to describe the love and adoration we had for him. He had been described as 'the comedian's comedian' and he was loved by his fellow pros."
Norman died at 6.05pm last night surrounded by his family who had spent the day with him at the nursing home he had spent time in since his condition deteriorated.
