A MAN has been charged with attemped rape after a woman was attacked on Myton Bridge.
Police believe drivers crossing the bridge may not have realised the woman was being assaulted and are appealing for anyone who saw her to come forward.
A spokeswoman for Humberside Police said: "Police believe passing motorists who witnessed this may have thought it was simply a couple involved in a dispute but in fact the woman did not know the man who had approached and attacked her."
The 23-year-old woman was walking along the bridge between 2.30am and 3.15am on Saturday when she was attacked close to the Premier Inn car park.
She was treated at Hull Royal Infirmary bruising and grazing to her legs, knees and back.
A 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with attempted rape. He will appear at Hull Magistrates Court this morning.
Any witnesses are asked to call Humberside Police on 101, quoting log 104 of March 9.
