A man has been arrested following the death of a local antiques dealer.
Police launched a murder investigation after the 56-year-old businessman was found dead at his home with head injuries.
He has been identified locally as Peter Battle, who had lived in Full Sutton, near Stamford Bridge, for several years.
He was found in Whisker Cottage on Thursday night after police were called by someone concerned for his safety.
The victim is known as a local antiques dealer, who frequents auction houses in the Yorkshire area.
Police do not know how long the body lay there undiscovered for but the Mail understands he could have been dead for a number of weeks.
The suspect, 26, was arreested yesterday.
Detective Chief Inspector Alistair McFarlane said: "We have one man in custody in connection with the investigation of this murder and our enquiries are still very much ongoing.
"I repeat our appeal to the public to help us determine movements around Whisker Cottage between the end of December and last Thursday when discovery of the man's body was made.
"I would also state again our interest around the resident of Whisker Cottage being an antiques dealer, and that this may be a significant factor in relation to the murder"
Anyone with information is asked to contact Humberside Police on the non emergency number 101 quoting log number 492 of 7 February 2013, or directly to the Incident Room on 01377 208989. Alternatively, calls can be made anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
