BEFORE Santa springs from his sleigh, fans of festive lights are being encouraged to turn Hull into tinsel town to compete with the best-decorated houses.
Giant reindeer, towering Christmas statues and streams upon streams of lights go up in the city every year as neighbours dress up their houses.
Now, the Mail is asking for people to vote for their favourite festive homes in an online poll.
The more extravagant, the better and the winner will be revealed to readers on Christmas Eve.
Tina Harrison and husband Les, of Broad Oak, Fleet Estate, east Hull, have spent hundreds of pounds on decorations over the past 20 years. Tina said: "We have a mixture of large lit up snowmen and characters in the garden and tons of lights on the front of the house.
"My husband buys a few decorations each year and still insists on hanging out of the loft to put them up.
"We have new neighbours moving in soon who haven't seen them yet, they might get a bit of a shock.
"But most people in the street think they are fantastic and we often receive Christmas cards from people we don't know saying 'I love your lights'."

Tina, 52, and Les, 56, are helping to launch this year's competition and say decorating the house always puts a smile on children's faces.
She said: "We still decorate the inside of the house and have three Christmas trees.
"In the future we'd like to raise money for charity.
"Our grandchildren love the lights and it's always great seeing the kids faces when they see them.
"We wish everyone the best in the competition."
