STEVE Bruce intends to monitor the future of Peterborough playmaker George Boyd as the Hull City boss ponders a foray into the emergency loan market.

Although the January transfer deadline passed last week, Football League clubs are again free to trade in 93-day loans from today up until the final week of March.

Bruce has no "immediate plans" to add to his promotion-chasing squad ahead of tomorrow's trip to Brighton, but he refused to rule out a future move.

The attack-minded midfielder, 27, saw a £250,000 deadline day switch to Nottingham Forest collapse on the grounds of a failed eye test and Peterborough will almost certainly depart London Road when his contract expires in June.

City are one of several Championship clubs to have declared their interest in Boyd and may move again following this weekend's action.

"We made an enquiry but that's as far as it has gone up to now," Bruce told the Mail. "He's a good player who is effective in a few positions but he's a Peterborough player."

Asked if he had any plans to go back in for Boyd, he added: "It's a possibility. I've got no immediate plans to use the loan window.

"The opportunity is there if we need to but I've said all along that any player that comes in has to be able to improve us."
