A man was assaulted as he waited in a Hull takeaway with his young family.
The 46-year-old man was in the KFC on Beverley Road at approximately 6.45pm on Saturday, February 2 when the incident occurred.
It appears that a dispute broke out in the restaurant between four men and the staff in the store about a suspected counterfeit note that was being offered as payment.
It is alleged that the four men were shouting and swearing and the man approached them and asked them to calm down due to the presence of his children, aged six and nine.
A verbal altercation then ensued which followed immediately afterwards with the four men allegedly assaulting the father.
He sustained a broken nose, a swollen and bruised left eye, a cut above his left eye which required stitches and numerous marks and bumps to his face and head.
He was treated at Hull Royal Infirmary.
Officers investigating the incident have arrested and charged two teenagers with assault – both aged 17 – and they have been released on police bail to attend Magistrates Court later in February.
Inquiries continue to identify the remaining suspects and trace any other witnesses to the offence.
