Hull's Olympic hero Luke Campbell was awarded his highest scores yet on Dancing On Ice tonight

The celebrities had to show off their solo skills in the round they call "The Leveller" and while stars like Samia Ghadie struggled without their partners, judges were unanimous in their high appraisal of Luke's performance - even Jason Gardiner, who has previously been critical of Luke.

Karen Barber seemed to even admit a soft spot for Hull's gold medallist, saying: "That smile can melt anybody's heart."
She continued: "It just flowed really well and again you are improving every week."

Jason Gardiner, who has previously called Luke "Olympically bad" and accused him of having no rhythm, said: "There is still a lot with the presentation that I still want to see develop but you are developing.
"There needs to be more grandeur, especially in the upper body, but what I loved about this piece was it was so wholesome and for the first time you actually performed very genuinely I thought and worked beautifully with your partner."

After scoring 23.5 from  the judges, which put him in joint 4th with Shayne Ward, Luke sailed through the public vote.

Shayne Ward and Matt Lapinskas ended up in the skate off before the judges decided to send Shayne home.

Luke, who will now skate again next week, said: "It was nice to hear something positive and it gives me confidence as well to know they have seen an improvement."
