HULL City rookie Conor Townsend says he had no hesitation committing himself to an extended loan with League Two promotion hopefuls Chesterfield.
The 19-year-old first moved to the Proact Stadium in November to enjoy his first experience in the Football League and last week accepted the offer to remain with the Spireites until the end of the season.
With 18 months remaining on his Tigers contract, Townsend wants his time with Paul Cook's men to continue his learning curve in the senior ranks.
"I'm very pleased," said Townsend. "It was sorted midweek, it was just getting the papers signed. But I'm happy to be here for the season and hopefully we can push on and get promotion.
"From now until the end of the season I am just concentrating on playing as many games as I can and performing to the best of my ability."
Having enjoyed a rewarding spell with non-league Grimsby last term, Townsend has not seen things go as smoothly at Chesterfield.
Although he celebrated his full debut with a 3-0 win over York on Boxing Day, the final game of 2012 saw the teenager score his first goal and get sent off in a 1-1 draw with Morecambe.
A three-match suspension was up in time for him to come off the bench in Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Southend, leaving Chesterfield trailing the League Two play-off spots by four points.
"The lads are a bit down at the minute, they are disappointed but they're a great bunch of lads and we all get on well," said Townsend, who has been reunited with former City defender Liam Cooper.
"We didn't deserve to lose the game, we were unlucky. Their keeper made some great saves and they caught us on the break. We've just got to pick ourselves up and go again next week."
