NOT a single day goes by where Stuart Gilson's family don't think about him and their tragic loss.
And today, as they prepare to mark the anniversary of his death, his family have revealed their pain is still as raw as it was the day he vanished.
Stuart, 21, disappeared from Hull city centre a year ago tonight, after a night out with friends.
He was last seen walking over the Drypool Bridge on his own and was believed to have been making his way home to Greatfield, east Hull.
His disappearance touched the hearts of thousands of people from Hull and more than 20,000 people joined a campaign to find him.
His body was discovered in the Humber six weeks later.
His father, Shaun Gilson, 53, said: "The past year has been very hard for us and I think it will be like that forever.
"In everything we do, we know and feel there is one person missing.
"Stuart was always the life and soul of the party and, without him, we know things will never be the same again.
"The whole family still has its very bad times, obviously not every day, but one minute, you can be okay and the next you are in tears again.
"There isn't a day goes by when I don't think about him.
"I'll never ever move on and I know that. I still break down in tears talking about him."
Stuart's mum Gillian said: "It all still seems like yesterday. We all muddle through as best we can and it's still so raw.
"We look after each other and we are there for each other. We all miss Stuart massively. Who wouldn't? He is and always will be unique."
Although he lives in York, Mr Gilson comes to Hull as often as he can to lay flowers on Stuart's grave at Eastern Cemetery in Preston Road.
He said: "I took him a birthday card and Christmas card and at new year, I went and had a drink with him at his graveside.
"I don't see how it will ever get any easier – his birthday last August, Christmas and new year were particularly hard for us.
"As a family, we don't sit and talk about him too much, that would be too hard, but we look at each other and we know what each other is thinking.
"We miss him all the time."
Tonight, Stuart's family and friends will gather at the bridge at 10.30pm – the last time he was seen on CCTV.
It is believed Stuart crossed the bridge, then attempted to walk along the footpath that runs alongside the River Hull, but fell in.
The inquest into his death was unable to determine whether Stuart drowned or died of hypothermia, but his death was ruled as an accident.
"I'll be on the bridge at 10.30pm," said Mr Gilson. "I do feel close to him there. I don't know why, but it is where he last was.
"I'm sure there will be lots of his friends, and lots of flowers."
