FORGET Strictly Come Dancing, there is a new duo set to take the ballroom scene by storm.
They have stepped their way to success in a national ballroom dancing competition and now have their eyes set on the stars.
Giorgina Angarano, ten, of east Hull, and Oliver Knowles, nine, of Driffield, possess elegance and finesse that would have even hard-nosed Craig Revel Horwood reaching for the 10 paddle.
In their first appearance on a national stage, the dynamic duo came fifth in the Champions of Tomorrow competition in Blackpool earlier this month.
The pair have been dancing together for less than year and, on the back of their first taste of glory, have been tipped for the top by their dance teachers, who themselves are ranked in the top 50 ballroom partnerships in the world.
Giorgina and Oliver are taught at A Ward School of Dance in Hull by 22-year-olds Amy Ward and Fabio D'Angelo.
Their proteges' early success has come as no surprise.
Amy said: "They work so hard in the training room every lesson and they really deserve this success.
"If they keep working hard, they're are going to be hugely successful in the future."
Giorgina, who attends Mersey Primary School, and Oliver, who attends Driffield Junior School, are Amy and Fabio's first students to compete in a national competition.
Amy said: "Fabio and I are both delighted Oliver and Giorgina have been noticed on such a big stage.
"They are both extremely talented for their age and love their dancing.
"It is great to have two kids that are so enthusiastic about it. It makes teaching them a lot easier."
Giorgina fell in love with dancing when she attended the dance school in search of a new hobby.
From the first step, her eyes were set on taking the world stage by storm.
Giorgina said: "I hadn't danced much before but I really wanted to try it. It looked like good fun.
"I didn't think I would be dancing in big competitions so soon but Amy and Fabio have been really helpful."
Her newfound love for dancing meant weekend nights were soon spent watching stars sweeping across dance floors in Strictly Come Dancing.
Giorgina said: " All the dancers look amazing. Hopefully, I will be as good as them one day."
Giorgina's mum Angela Hanstock and her family travelled with her to Lancashire.
She said: "They went their with no expectations at all, so to get fifth place in their first competition is brilliant.
"I was so proud of them both and I couldn't help but shed a tear.
"They love their dancing and enjoy every second of it.
"Hopefully, this will be a sign of things to come in the future."
Oliver was also accompanied by his family to Blackpool and can't wait to compete in more competitions.
"It was really difficult but it was brilliant experience," he said.
"I really enjoy dancing with Giorgina. She is a really good dancer."
Jo Knowles, Oliver's mum, said his dancing feet had always been with him.
"Ever since the age of two, he has always been dancing around the house and wherever he can."
Oliver's twinkle toes were first discovered on a family holiday to Greece when he was just two years old.
Jo said: "He was taken away with the dancers and the music in Greece and he hardly stopped.
"We had no idea of his potential as a dancer and it wasn't until he was spotted dancing at a wedding by a dance teacher that we recognised his talent."
With their first major competition behind them, Olive and Giorgina are now looking to the future, with The British Champions title in their sights.
