ALAN PARDEW has hailed the performance of two-goal hero Marouane Chamakh after his matchwinning display against Southampton.
Chamakh netted twice in the 3-2 win in the FA Cup fourth round tie, helping the Eagles to an impressive victory on the south coast on his return to the side.
And Pardew says he felt he was the best player on the pitch at St Mary's.
"He has been injured and when you think of the players that Southampton have on the pitch, that is a great credit to him," he said.
"I have not seen a lot of Chamakh before coming here, but even his performances at the end of last season weren't as good as today for me."
