PURLEY Oaks Primary School has received a good Ofsted report for the first time and has been been praised for its "exciting" teaching.
The report, following a visit to the school in Bynes Road on December 11, said teaching had improved thanks to leaders helping teachers improve the way they monitor and interact with pupils.
It also commended the school for pupils' good behaviour, its welcome diversity and for keeping pupils safe.
The report said parents were very positive, saying their children were happy and safe.
The report said: "Children achieve well because teaching is exciting and meets their needs well."
Head Jan Kennard said the school will not officially celebrate their progress until they get an excellent Ofsted report.
She said: "This is the first time in the school's history that we have had a good Ofsted report. The kids are all very proud.
"I am delighted that the report reflects the significant transformation the school has undergone since the last inspection. I would like to thank all of the teachers and staff, as they have been instrumental throughout this journey."
Purley Oaks' last Ofsted report, in February 2013, classed the school as requiring improvement.
