HDM Sport on FacebookBruce back in for Ameobi ANOTHER morning, another forward linked with a move to the KC Stadium. Only, this link isn't too far-fetched.Hull City have been linked with past moves to bring in former Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi, but following his release from Turkish Second Division outfit Gazianstep, the 33-year-old is free to return to the Premier League. The Nigerian international netted four times in 11 appearances for Gazianstep, but has left the club after it ran into financial difficulties. And according to the Daily Mail, Steve Bruce is pondering a swoop for his fellow Geordie, but will face competition for his signature from West Brom and Crystal Palace. With the need for a new centre forward mounting, Bruce will be hoping the 6ft 3ins striker can live up to his nickname in a City shirt and praying that "Shola the Goal-a" can deliver for the Tigers.Januzaj and Gestede no goes, but Bruce confirms hunt is ongoing THERE is no denying it, the need for a centre forward is crucial for Hull City in their bid to avoid the drop.Steve Bruce said this morning that he is working every hour God sends to bring in a new frontman, but with only Shola Ameobi linked, the City boss must be praying for a few more hours to be chucked his way. Bruce put the kibosh on speculation over a move for Blackburn's Rudy Gestede this morning, confirming that the club were working within the confines of the loan market. And with the Daily Mirror reporting this morning that Louis van Gaal is unwilling to let Adnan Januzaj leave Manchester United on loan in this window, the list of targets is growing slimmer for the Tigers boss. But Bruce remains undeterred and has confirmed that there are still one or two irons in the fire, although nothing is expected to happen ahead of Sunday's showdown with West Ham. "It's always a key end of the pitch and you're only as good as your strikers. If they're fit and everyone's healthy, we're in a good place, but they're not at the moment," Bruce told the press. "That's one area we'll look to do something. There's one or two things going on at the moment, but it's unlikely today or tomorrow, so we'll go with what we've got (against West Ham on Sunday)."West Ham welcome back Demel and Reid As if things weren't hard enough for Hull City in front of goal ahead of Sunday, West Ham will only have two of their most experienced defenders back in their squad.Sam Allardyce has confirmed that both Guy Demel and Winston Reid– who has been linked with a move away from the Hammers this window – are back in contention and available for selection. "Winston Reid and Guy Demel have both started a bit of light training so it looks like they have a chance of being available," Allardyce said. "We've been free-scoring this year, but we've only got four clean-sheets this year and because of that it's cost us 1-0 wins recently that you look for when the games are tight."Henry to make Hull debut... for Sky Sports WHAT Steve Bruce would do right now to have Thierry Henry in his squad right now. Even at the ripe-old age of 37 and retired from the game, the City boss would jump at the chance to sign the Arsenal legend. But while Henry will be watching proceedings at Upton Park with interest on Sunday, alas, it won't be with the intention of coming to rescue to save Bruce's forward conundrum. Instead, the World Cup winner will be watching from the Sky Sports studio at the Etihad, in place for Arsenal's trip to Man City, as he takes his place as a pundit on Super Sunday for the first time since signing a multi-million pound deal with the channel. But given the Tigers current predicament, hope that they can provide him with any moments of forward-genius to marvel over is possibly a tad fanciful.
