Why don't Hull City try Harry Maguire up front? – Peter Swan

WHEN there's few options elsewhere on the park, maybe it's time for Steve Bruce to introduce a new dimension in Hull City's attack against the Hammers. For me, the combination of Robbie Brady and Tom Ince just didn't work out, as shown against West Brom last week, and I don't think we'll see that pairing up top again. So, here's a proposal – radical, but worth a talking point. Why not throw a defender up front – namely Harry Maguire? There'll be no harm in trying it. Going to West Ham is already a difficult enough place to visit when fielding your strongest side, and the Tigers are heavily depleted at the moment. But with a player like Maguire up front, who's good in the air and can command space, it's a test that's worth trying. We've already seen how the defender loves to go forward and that's one of his strongest points as an overall player. Whatever decision Bruce makes, I think he has to field a recognised striker in the shape of Yannick Sagbo. It is one of only a few options City have at the moment, but one striker is better than none. I used to love being up front back in my day. It was a bit of fun, but I know opposition defenders hate seeing their rival players get up in the box and having a go. You know the movements of attackers you're trying to keep out, so for me, going up front was just about playing the complete opposite to your normal game. I've every confidence in Maguire being handed a free role around the park. In 80 games I scored 24 goals, not bad for a defender, if I say so myself.
