Man suffers serious head injuries after being hit by train at Gilberdyke

A MAN has suffered serious head injuries after being hit by a train at Gilberdyke. The man is being treated at the scene after he was struck at 2.13pm. Several trains have been cancelled and other services have been delayed by up to an hour. First Hull Trains services between Hull and London Kings Cross are reporting delays on services of up to 60 minutes as are First TransPennine Express services between Hull and Manchester Piccadilly. Northern Rail services between Hull, Scarborough and York and Doncaster and Sheffield are also delayed. Delays are expected until 5.30pm. Northern Rail's 2.25pm service from Hull to Doncaster and its 3.52pm service from Doncaster to Hull have been cancelled. A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "Our officers were called to an incident at Gilberdyke railway station at 2.13pm after receiving reports that a train had struck a man at the station. "On arrival they discovered a man on the tracks with serious head injuries. He is currently being treated by paramedics from Yorkshire Ambulance Service at the scene."
