STEVE Bruce has confirmed that he is interested in taking Arsenalstriker Yaya Sanago on loan in the January transfer window, but has poured cold water on Hull City's attempts to lure Jermain Defoe to the KC Stadium.
Sanogo has made six appearance for the north Londoners this season, scoring once in the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund.
Speaking at this morning's weekly press conference, the Tigers boss revealed there were four or five options the club were looking at this month, and he admitted the 21-year-old Frenchman was one player the club are keenly monitoring.
"It's been made clear that the boy (Sanogo) might be available on loan and it's something we'll have a look at," he said."We have got four or five things going, like most Premier League clubs. We'll have to wait and see but, as usual, it will probably happen in the last couple of days of the window. Everyone's jockeying for position.
"If we can bring a couple in to bolster the squad, that would be great."
However, Bruce also mentioned that, while talks had been held with Defoe's representatives, there had been no further progress on a move for the Toronto FC star.
"There have been talks with agents but that's as far as it's gone," he said.
Bruce also confirmed that he was one of several Premier League bosses to give his support to Oldham chairman Simon Corney over his decision to offer convicted rapist Ched Evans a contract.

ATTACKING flair appears to be the order of the day for City in the transfer window and it's no surprise to see a number of wingers linked with a move to the KC Stadium, especially following the departure of Hatem Ben Arfa.
But one player who looks increasingly unlikely to arrive in East Yorkshire is Aaron Lennon.
The Tottenham midfielder was linked with West Brom earlier in the week, and although the Daily Mirror has suggested the player remains unsure on joining Steve Bruce's side, Everton are now a more probably destination for the 27-year-old.
The national paper reported today: "Everton want to sign Aaron Lennon - with the Tottenham winger set to snub approaches from rival clubs.
"Hull are keen on a £7m cash deal to take Lennon back to his native Yorkshire, but the former England man is not enthusiastic on a switch to the KC Stadium."Bordeaux play down Sagbo link
WHILE City are desperate to get strikers through the door this summer, the club are also looking to offload one who appears surplus to requirements.Yannick Sagbo endured a torrid loan spell at Wolves earlier in the season and reports had suggested that Ligue 1 outfit Bordeaux had shown an interest in acquiring the forward's services.
However, the club's president, Jean Louis Tiraud, has confirmed the French outfit have no desire on sealing a deal for the player.
Meanwhile, Shoot magazine has linked City with a move for another out-of-form striker, with the publication suggesting Bruce is interested in signing West Brom's Brown Ideye, but North East duo Newcastle and Sunderland are also interested. Pulis making his mark at West Brom ahead of City clash
TOM Ince has already said there is bound to be a change in emphasis at West Brom following the appointment of Tony Pulis, and Chris Brunt has revealed the former Stoke City boss is already making his mark.
Hull City visit The Hawthorns tomorrow and Northern Ireland international Brunt is reported in the Daily Star as saying: "There are no doubts who is boss. He has definitely come in and stamped his authority.
"He is in total control when it come to training. There are not going to be any grey areas. People know their jobs inside-out and that can only be a good thing."Elmo is the fastest Tiger
AND finally... the Daily Mail have released a table of the fastest players in the Premier League for each team and the City's fastest man may come as a surprise.
Despite having speedsters such as Andrew Robertson and Tom Ince on their books, Ahmed Elmohamady has been the fastest for the Tigers this season, clocking 21.5mph against Everton last month, the same speed as Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez. Newcastle's Moussa Sissoko tops the charts with a speed of 21.93mph.
Meanwhile, no other City player has covered more ground than Jake Livermore, the midfielder running 135.1 miles on the pitch so far this season.City's transfer funds receive a (very small) boost
And while money appears to be a little tight at the KC Stadium at the moment, the coffers have been boosted slightly by the arrival of 2014 World Cup compensation money– with slightly being the operative word.
While the likes of Chelsea and Bayern Munich have received seven-figure sums after their players' exploits at the tournament in Brazil, Hull City have been awarded the princely sum of £91,933.
Well you never know, it just might pay Jermain Defoe's wages for a week or two!
