Northern Powergrid has apologised thousands of homes in the Hull area were left without power last night (Monday).
A fault occurred just before 8.30pm affecting 3,946 customers in the Hull and Willerby area.
Power was restored to 324 customers within three minutes, a further 157 within an hour and 3,110 within two hours.
The remaining 355 customers had their power restored in 2 hours and 27 minutes.
The outage follows similar problems experienced by 7,500 residents in west Hull, Anlaby and Willerby on Sunday night.
A spokeswoman for Northern Powergrid said: "We understand how frustrating a power cut can be and are very sorry for the recent disruption experienced by some of our customers to their electricity supply.
"On Sunday we experienced three faults in the Hull area affecting our network – one involved a fault with the electrical switch gear at one of our substations and the others related to underground cable faults on two different areas on our network.
"Yesterday we also experienced another switch gear fault at another substation which affected some customers in the Willerby area for a second time.
"We would like to reassure local people that we have a substantial interconnecting network in Hull which means that we have been able to divert electricity through alternative routes to restore power for our customers while we investigate the cause of the faults and carry out repairs.
"Our engineers are out there carrying out repairs now and will be completed by Thursday."
