A man was taken to hospital after getting stuck in River Hull mud near Drypool Bridge.
Humberside Fire and Rescue Service and the Coastguard were called to the river, near Alfred Gelder Street, at 3.25am this morning.
It is not known how the man came to be in the mud but he had been rescued by 3.50am.
Firefighters used a rescue sled and ropes to free the man, who was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary by ambulance.
The man's condition is not known at the time.
