The Absolutely Fabulous, Darling Award
She might be a London luvvie but Rosie Millard is now Hull's biggest cheerleader after being appointed chair of the UK City of Culture 2017 programme. Best-loved Pile of Bricks and Mortar Award
They came from far and wide to toast the Adelphi's 30th birthday. To mark the occasion, club owner Paul Jackson continued to wear the same hat he's worn since 1984.

Big Man for a Big Job Award

Meanwhile, joint photocalls with vertically-challenged city council leader Steve Brady remain an issue to be worked on.
Three Wheels on His Wagon Award
Step forward and take a bow Neil Worner, Hull's very own rickshaw driver. He's always smiling and, for a couple of quid, he will ferry you around the city centre in his giant white buggy. This year he's also added film extra to his colourful CV after taking part in the shooting of Girls' Night Out in Hull.

Hull City owner Assem Allam continues to wind up supporters with plans to change the name of the club. Despite getting a thumbs-down from the Football Association, his Tigers-centric branding campaign appears to be carrying on regardless. All he needs now is a white cat for promotion to Bond villain status.

The Deep's chief executive Colin Brown didn't need a golden ticket competition to drum up fresh interest in his self-styled submarium. Instead, he flew in a family of cute penguins and hey presto! Despite an early fatality, the remaining Gentoo penguins have been packing them in ever since.
