Sub-zero temperatures are expected to bite on Christmas Day.
The Met Office has warned Hull and East Riding is likely to experience a cold end to December 25.
However, it says a white Christmas is unlikely.
Spokesman Dan Williams said: "It is looking like a really nice, clear day on Christmas Day but it is likely to be rather cold.
"It will be about five or six degrees during the day.
"But, although it will be a clear night, it will also be a very cold one.
"Temperatures look like they will get below freezing during the night which means there will be frost on Boxing Day morning."
Boxing Day will see wind and rain, but milder temperatures should return over the weekend.
