HULL KR could call time on investment talks with businessman Tony Larvin if a promised £5m transaction fails to comes to fruition before the end of the month.
The Mail understands the Hull businessman has pledged to meet a deadline of January 31 for his first £5m to be deposited in Rovers' bank account.
The news comes as Rovers' board members prepare to host a fans' forum at MS3 Craven Park tonight, where the matter is bound to be the key issue to address.
Rovers are expected to make a short statement ahead of that forum today, confirming talks have continued.
However, it appears Larvin now has just nine days to turn his grand promises – which include raising his investment to £15m in time – into a reality.
The move to set a final date for investment comes after three months of talks.
Rovers have made little comment on the matter since details of Larvin's interest first surfaced, and only issued a brief statement confirming talks after Larvin outlined his plans in the Mail earlier this month.
In that statement, KR said a 'significant investment' had been discussed in meetings both before and after Christmas.
Tellingly, Rovers' statement also said the club was still awaiting 'proof of funds', and would make no further comment until such proof had been presented.
Chairman Neil Hudgell was not willing to discuss the matter in detail when approached by the Mail yesterday.

However, he did indicate that he expected the matter to be brought to a conclusion 'one way or the other, by the end of the month.'
Now, the Mail understands fans will tonight be told the club is to 'draw a line' under the matter, if it is not resolved by the new season.
A source close to the club told the Mail: "Rovers are concerned at the uncertainty this issue has been causing, especially with the new season close to starting.
"It has always been a concern that the money promised may not materialise, but when someone says they want to plough £15m into your club, you are going to listen.
"Those promises are still being made."
In an exclusive interview with the Mail earlier this month, Larvin pledged to transform the fortunes of KR and make them a world-leading club.
He said the first £5m was 'imminent', and that those who doubted him would be proved wrong.
He had been posting regularly on the social media site Twitter, using the hashtag 'robinsrevolution', until last week, when he stopped adding new posts.
Larvin still insists his money will come good and says he remains in talks with banks to transfer the first instalment.
