WHEN you've forked out a club record £10m for a striker, you expect more than Abel Hernandez is giving right now.
The Uruguayan is a player who arrived at Hull City with a bang, but his impact is quickly fizzling out following another disappointing performance against Swansea.
Playing in front of a midfield that it must be said is currently offering little service to the front men, chances have been at a premium for Hernandez and Nikica Jelavic.
And yet, with Jelavic you see that physical presence, the ability to run across the width of the pitch and take up different positions and try to offer a threat.
Hernandez is not doing enough of that, but that's not my gripe.
When you pay an eight-figure sum for a player, you expect much more than we are seeing.
Perhaps, the price tag on Hernandez' head has left me and many more fans wanting more than he has got.
Because we've not seen him in action for any other clubs, all we have to go on is a reputation and the price tag and that leads to expectations.
Expectations that are not being met.
All we can judge Hernandez on is what we've seen so far in a City shirt and after that good start, it's not been good enough.
When the midfield is struggling you need your top, top players to produce that moment of inspiration, and find that craft and guile to spark the team into life with a goal.
That doesn't seem to be in the Uruguayan's make-up at the minute.
He maybe needs a run of games in the side to find his feet after a fair amount of jet setting on international duty which has made it difficult to bed in.
Time, however, it not a luxury City have anymore.
The Tigers need to start scoring goals if they are to reverse the current trend and get themselves out of a tricky situation.
That onus must fall on the forwards and as part of an expensive forward line, Hernandez needs to step up and deliver.
