HDM Sport on FacebookMcGregor feat impressive, but he isn't the best top-flight penalty stopper HULL City fans reckon they've got the Premier League's top goalkeeper in current No 1 Allan McGregor after he took all the plaudits at the weekend. Having faced, and saved, his third penalty in the Premier League to earn a 0-0 draw against West Brom, the Scottish star's stock is again on the rise. His save from fellow countryman Graham Dorrans followed on from his save from Charlie Austin's spot kick on the opening day of this season, repeating his opening day heroics of the season before when he denied Chelsea's Frank Lampard. The feat of having never been beaten from the spot in the top flight is a remarkable achievement, but as the Daily Mail points out, the Scotsman has a long way to go to join the top penalty stoppers in the Premier League's 20-year history. McGregor is nowhere near the top 10, with David James leading the way, having stopped 13 Premier League penalties.Thomas Sorensen is just one stop behind on 12, while Brad Friedel and Mark Schwarzer share third spot with 10 saves apiece. Unfortunately, they have not compared the penalty save ratio of the keepers. If they had, it won't be beaten for McGregor as he is three from three and boasts a 100 per cent record. Bruce and City display FA Cup disbelief IT WAS probably the last draw anyone involved with Hull City would have wanted, and Steve Bruce's reaction when Alan Shearer drew the Tigers away to Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup said it all. A look of disbelief was etched on the City manager's face as a re-run of last year's pulsating final was pulled out of the hat – an event made even more remarkable by the fact that the exact same tie was pulled out during the rehearsal. While a trip to the Emirates is a daunting task, it does provide City with a shot at gaining some revenge for last May's defeat, and players of both clubs took to Twitter to react to the draw. Whether the tie is as "easy" as David Meyler makes out remains to be seen.

Harper would have retired if City lifted FA Cup HOW different life could have been for Hull City had they clung on to claim victory in the FA Cup final seven months ago? The potential to attract top players would have grown, the road into Europe may have been a little less treacherous, and they would almost have certainly been a man lighter. Goalkeeper Steve Harper has revealed he would have hung up his gloves there and then had he played a role in an FA Cup winning side that day. Harper was on the verge of creating history, only to be replaced for the final by Allan McGregor, and speaking to the Newcastle Chronicle, the City shot-stopper said: "It's still a sore point and I still have a grumble about it from time to time. "Had I played and we had won it would have been the perfect way to go out. I would almost certainly have retired on the spot. "However the boss went for Allan McGregor after I had been in all the way to the final. It would have been a record had I played in two FA Cup finals 15 years apart. No rest for Diego Costa ahead of City clash CHELSEA are City's next opponents in the Premier League, but have the small matter of wrapping up their Champions League group campaign first. They take on Sporting Lisbon tomorrow evening and Jose Mourinho has indicated that he may start the struggling Diego Costa for the game, in order for the Spanish international to gain match fitness. According to The Guardian, Mourinho is ready to start Costa in order to improve the forward's match fitness after his progress was interrupted by injury. Unfortunately for Hull, there is unlikely to be a full Chelsea squad on display, meaning the likes of Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas will be rested and fit for the visit of Steve Bruce's side on Saturday.
