Steve Bruce says Hull City have "stopped the rot" after building on the mid-week draw at Everton by taking a point at home to West Brom.
The Tigers played out a drab 0-0 draw at the KC Stadium, leaving the City boss lamenting wasted chances in front of goal.
But after ending a run of four straight defeats at Goodison on Wednesday, Bruce said he was satisfied with another point this afternoon.
He said: "The first aim is always to stop that rot. There's an unbelievable expectation about us now.
"We've got West Brom at home and we're expected to beat them. Last year when we played West Brom at home there was no expectation.
"We have to take a point, move on. The disappointing thing for me is just not being able to create that opportunity.
"We had one or two really good opportunites and missed them."
Bruce had hoped to reunite strikers Abel Hernandez, returning from paternity leave, with Nikica Jelavic, until the latter was sidelined through illness.
And the City boss hopes when the pair do start together, he will see an upturn in City's fortunes.
He said: "Jelavic was ill unfortunately. And therein lies our problem. We started the season with Jelavic and Hernandez up front and we were a threat.
"Then Jelavic unfortunately damaged his knee against Arsenal and Hernandez has been back and forth from Uruguay. Diame we've lost through injury, Ramirez with a suspension."
City are now without a win in eight games and have only tasted victory twice all season in the Premier League. But despite that, Bruce's glass remains half full.
"I'm still convinced that we've got enough in the squad to be better than we were last year," he said.
"These are tough times at the minute but we've got enough to see us through.
"We'll keep working away on the training ground at it. We can hope that Jelavic and Hernandez stay right. You're only as good as your centre forwards.
"We have to find that blend that made us a threat in the first part of the season."
