A POPULAR pub in east Hull is reopening today, three months after a drink-driver crashed her car through its wall.
Kerry Wileman smashed into The Holderness pub, in Witham, on August 22, causing more than £30,000 of damage.Barry King, 48, suffered a cardiac arrest and had to be resuscitated by his partner Diane Green and customer Pete Brown.
Now, owners Linda and Dave Stark are looking forward to welcoming customers old and new.
Mrs Stark, 55, said: "We have got all the Christmas trimmings, lights and tree up ready for opening at 6pm.
"Since we were forced to close, we have lost a lot of money, so we will just have to see how things go."
The pub has had a new wall built, new windows put in and new seating, flooring and heating system.
Mrs Stark said: "We feel like a big weight has been lifted from our shoulders.
"This week has been a bit stressful getting everything ready in time for the opening but we are really looking forward to seeing all our old customers and also welcoming some new faces through the door."
Wileman, of 26th Avenue, north Hull, was handed a 12-week suspended prison sentence after she admitted drink-driving, careless driving, driving without a licence and insurance and assaulting PC Lee Robinson when she appeared at Hull Magistrates' Court in October.
Mr King and Ms Green were at the funeral wake of her grandfather, Harry Parks, inside the pub when Wileman, 26, smashed her Vauxhall Tigra through the wall.
Ms Green, a trained nurse, said she dreads to think what would have happened if she had not been there to help Mr King.
She suffered concussion, whiplash and traumatic shock following the crash.
Ms Green says she is still having flashbacks of the night.
The Holderness will reopen at 6pm today.
