POLICE are appealing for three witnesses to come forward after a report of an assault near the Crown Pub, in Holderness Road, east Hull.
It followed an argument between an 18-year-old woman and a man, who knew one-another, at a house in nearby Westcott Street, where the woman was allegedly assaulted.
She then left the property and ran on to Holderness Road, followed by the man. When they reached a point almost opposite the Crown, the man allegedly assaulted the woman again and took her mobile phone.
The woman was helped by three passers-by: a man who stopped his car to ask if she was okay, and two women. Police are now trying to trace them and would like to speak to any other witnesses.
A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault, theft and attempted criminal damage. He has been released on police bail until a date in January next year.
