POLICE are appealing for three witnesses to come forward after a report of an assault near the Crown Pub, in Holderness Road, east Hull. It followed an argument between an 18-year-old woman and a man, who knew one-another, at a house in nearby Westcott Street, where the woman was allegedly assaulted. She then left the property and ran on to Holderness Road, followed by the man. When they reached a point almost opposite the Crown, the man allegedly assaulted the woman again and took her mobile phone. The woman was helped by three passers-by: a man who stopped his car to ask if she was okay, and two women. Police are now trying to trace them and would like to speak to any other witnesses. A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault, theft and attempted criminal damage. He has been released on police bail until a date in January next year. Anybody who saw the incident on Friday, between 6pm and 6.30pm, is asked to call police on 101, quoting crime reference number 2083619, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
