Humberside Police say the 101 non-emergency number is working again after it went down for several hours today.
During the outage, police asked residents to use an alternative number for non-emergency calls, (01482) 597709.
A police spokesman said engineers were working on the problem, which originated in Birmingham.
Police said the line was restored at 12.45pm.
