EXCLUSIVE: Mitch Allgood believes Hull KR fans will witness the "best years" of his career after the prop put pen to paper on a three-year deal.

The 25-year-old has turned his back on a handful of NRL offers to try his hand in Super League, having been inspired by the ambition of coach Chris Chester.

St George Illawarra and Melbourne Storm had both been linked with a move for the Aussie forward after Parramatta told him he was free to leave.

But after learning of the Robins' interest, Allgood cannot wait to sample life in Super League after being convinced to come to England by Chester and former Rovers half-back Blake Green.

"I spoke to Blake about the club and he had nothing but good things to say," Allgood told the Mail in an exclusive interview.

"He was certainly very positive about Chris and the way he likes to coach the game.

"Blake told me Chris is an intelligent coach who has some good ideas about the way he wants to deliver his coaching.

"I was in talks with a couple of NRL sides when I got a call from Chris, and after chatting to him about Hull KR and his vision for the club I felt it would be the right move for me.

"He spoke to me about the direction he wants to take the club, his long-term aims, the season ahead and what sort of rugby he wants to play.

"His passion and his hunger was the main thing which came across and I feel as though the move is the right one for me at this stage of my career.

"I've signed a three-year deal and I'm only 25 so I feel my best years are still ahead of me.

"My aim is to play some decent football and earn the respect of my team-mates and the fans."

With his visa and work permit application expected to take a minimum of six weeks to process, Allgood has already been sent a training plan to follow Down Under.

When he does arrive in England in the New Year, the familiar face of Ken Sio will welcome him to east Hull following the winger's capture at the end of July.

The duo made their NRL debuts together for the Eels back in the 2011 season and Allgood is pleased their friendship will be rekindled in the unfamiliar surroundings of east Hull.

"I'm hoping Ken being there already can help me to bed in quickly," he added.

"It's always good to have a familiar face at a new club and I can't wait to link back up with him.

"I'm really excited to get over there and meet the staff and the other players.

"I hear they have some pretty crazy fans who are very passionate and I'm looking forward to playing in front of them and showing what I'm about.

"I've also been told the derby against Hull FC can get pretty heated so that will be one of the games I look forward to."
