THE world's most acclaimed Beatles tribute band are to perform in Beverley.

The Mail can reveal the Bootleg Beatles will take to the stage on June 18 next year ahead of Beverley Folk Festival.

The band has performed at the Glastonbury Festival on six occasions, toured the world and sold out shows at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

Beverley Folk Festival chairman, Geoff Sargieson, said: "This is a fantastic curtain-raiser for Beverley Folk Festival and we're looking forward to welcoming the group to the stage as a pre-festival warm up."

The band have shared the bill with the likes of Rod Stewart, Elton John, David Bowie, Bon Jovi and Simple Minds and were also invited to perform with Oasis at massive outdoor events.

The foursome will be bringing their orchestra to perform songs from the album Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Mr Sargieson said: "A rare opportunity such as this one to see the world's top tribute band will mean tickets are expected to sell fast."

Next year's Beverley Folk Festival, which commences the day after the gig and continues throughout the weekend, will feature Seth Lakeman, Barbara Dickson and Rab Noakes, and Peatbog Faeries.

It takes place at Beverley Racecourse.

Tickets for the gig go on sale from 10am today and are available from the new Beverley Folk Festival website.
