HULL is unlikely to be host venue for the Magic Weekend in 2017 as part of the City of Culture celebrations.
That was the assessment by RFL spokesman John Ledger as both Hull FC and Hull KR revealed their desire to bring the annual weekend event to the city.
While not dismissing an idea which the two clubs would like to see come to fruition, Ledger says it is not something that has been discussed by the RFL and would need the full backing of rival Super League clubs.
Magic Weekend has taken place in Cardiff, Edinburgh and Manchester since its inception and next season heads to Newcastle, with no contracts in place for a venue after the 2015 event.
"It is an interesting idea but it is not in our plans at the moment," Ledger told the BBC.
"One of the key aspects of Magic Weekend is the neutrality. It has always been at a neutral venue and by taking it to the KC Stadium or the KC Lightstream Stadium as a dual venue it would need the support of the other Super League clubs. It's never been put to them but I am not sure what their views would be.
"The KC Stadium is not big enough to hold the Magic Weekend on its own. We had record crowds last year at Magic Weekend and I am not sure it would work, but Hull is an important part of our thinking both for the Kiwi tour next year and the Four Nations a year after."
Neither of Hull's two stadiums are big enough to host the rugby league event on their own, with around 40,000 fans regularly attending each day, however the hope is Hull's two Super League sides could be join-hosts.
While that looks unlikely, the KC remains in firm contention to host one game of the three-match series between England and New Zealand in 2015.
