CONSTRUCTION giant Balfour Beatty has announced plans to close its Barton office, putting 26 jobs at risk.
The firm is in consultation with employees about moving some roles to its Leeds office.
The Barton site is the former head office of Birse Plant Hire (BPH), which was incorporated into Balfour Beatty following the company's acquisition of the Birse Group in July 2006.
Balfour Beatty have confirmed the BPH site will remain open despite the closure of the company's construction office.
A company spokesman said: "We spoke to employees in our Balfour Beatty Barton office, regarding a proposal to close the office and relocate to our existing Leeds office.
"There are 26 employees based in this office.
"We haven't yet entered into formal consultation with our employees on this proposal so it would be inappropriate to comment further.
"Our BPH plant hire business which is on the same site is unaffected."
