Hull KR linked with move for hooker Matt Srama from Gold Coast Titans

GOLD Coast Titans hooker Matt Srama has emerged as a target for Hull KR, according to reports in Australia. Although the 23-year-old signed a new two-year deal just five months ago, he now looks surplus to requirements at the Titans after falling out of favour under new coach Neil Henry. And the Robins have been alerted to his availability as they continue to hunt a replacement for Canberra-bound Josh Hodgson. Srama is currently recovering from surgery to correct a congenital defect in his hip and groin, but he underwent that eight weeks ago and is known to be making good progress. But although Rovers are in the frame, Srama's agent admits he would prefer to join a club Down Under or fight for his Gold Coast place. "Matt has met with Neil Henry and they've told him he is free to go," said Srama's brother and manager Paul in The Courier Mail. "There is a contract for him in the UK if he wants to go and the Titans would give him an extra $50,000 if he wanted to play over there. "But Matt is not really keen on moving overseas at this stage. He's just bought a new home. "We'll look around and see if there is interest from NRL clubs but ideally Matt is keen to break back into the Titans." Srama was labelled as a potential State of Origin hooker after superb 2011 and 2012 seasons, but a series of shoulder and groin injuries restricted him to just six games last season.
