SWASTIKAS have been daubed on the shutters of a city chemist and a neighbouring medical centre, upsetting residents.
The blue Nazi symbols have been on the Boots store in Beverley Road, Hull, for more than a week and also on the Kingston Medical Centre shutters.
Staff at Boots say the graffiti has been reported to head office and is being removed.
A member of the public contacted the Mail saying he was offended the signs had remained for so long.
He said: "I drive down Beverley Road every day. It is a diverse road now and I am mystified why anyone would do it.
"I think it is offensive.
"Hull is being labelled as the land of culture and the idea that this is stuck on a door on Beverley Road annoys me.
"Things like this need to be stamped out.
"The person who did it clearly knows what it means. There is no place for racism today.
"It scares me that this can still happen.
"If this kind of thing appears anywhere in Hull or the East Riding it needs to be moved immediately, it is offensive."
Sangeeta Singh, manager at the Boots store that was vandalised, said as soon as staff noticed it, head office was informed so its properties team could have it removed.
She said: "It is unacceptable and we understand it is very offensive.
"It is not an image Boots wants to portray and head office was informed and we are waiting for it to be removed."
The Mail understands the graffiti is also being removed from the medical centre.
Mrs Singh contacted head office again yesterday and was told it would be removed within 24 hours.
A spokesman for the Royal British Legion said he was saddened by the graffiti.
He said: "I saw enough of those during the war. There are some funny people who don't understand what's happening in the world. It is regretful it has happened especially at this time of the year when we are remembering all of our comrades who died."
