Hull St Andrew's Dock: Fireworks on Lord Line building Hull's fishing families are uniting for a 17-minute firework display on the roof of the Lord Line building, St Andrew's Dock, on Saturday (November 1), with a bonfire and fair rides nearby. It is a tribute to the old docks and the trawlermen lost. Organised by Hull and District RAOB, the fireworks display, bonfire and fair will be held on Saturday from 6pm. Entry costs £1 on the night. The bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm and the fireworks will go up from the roof of the Lord Line building an hour later. All money raised will go to fund memorial plaques for lost trawlermen.

Bonfire Night on Beverley Westwood

Beverley Westwood will hold its popular annual Bonfire Night fireworks display on Wednesday, November 5.

Organised by the Beverley Lions Club, the event relies on public donations. Last year, the fireworks cost upwards of £5,000, much of which was covered by the club's charity fund. Although the event itself is free, there will be a bucket collection on the Westwood and visitors are encouraged to donate as much as they can.

The mayor will light the bonfire at 7.15pm and the fireworks display will begin at 7.45pm. People are asked not to bring their own fireworks.

The club has also appealed for volunteers to help with the clean-up operation the following day (Thursday, November 6). Anyone planning on turning up should arrive after 9am.

Fireworks and bonfire event at Swanland

A group focused on improving the community through charity events and donations is gearing up for its annual Bonfire Night event. Hull Wyke Round Table is planning fireworks and a bonfire at Humberdale Farm in Swanland on Wednesday, November 5, for the 37th year.

The event has raised thousands of pounds for charity in the past, including an £8,000 donation to the Smile Foundation for its latest project, Smile by the Sea. Smile by the Sea provides short UK breaks for people from Hull and East Yorkshire who are supported by a local registered charity, offering respite to families in difficult circumstances.

Hull Wyke Round Table members hope this year's event will continue to be a great success and attract as many people as possible, enabling the group to continue supporting local charities. Andy Dearman, of the group, said: "It's a great night out for all of the family.

"Each year it gets bigger and better and we're sure this year will have record numbers to enjoy the spectacular firework display."

The free event starts at 6pm and will include a traditional steam organ, refreshments such as a hog roast, mulled wine, burgers and hot dogs, and bygone era family games with prizes to be won.

Fire walk for Jason Netherton's testimonial

Hull KR fans are being asked to remember November 5 for Jason Netherton's latest testimonial event. The date is Bonfire Night, but the veteran Rovers forward is celebrating with a different kind of fire. A fire walk has been organised at the Crown, Holderness Road starting at 7pm, with Netherton starting the event off with others being invited to follow. The walk will be in aid of Netherton's testimonial and local charity, Life for a Kid.

Entertainment will be provided by Kings of Leon tribute act Kind of Leon. Burgers and hot dogs will be available and admission on the night is £2 for adults and free for under-16s. For more information, call Adge Cutler on 07877 329851.

Fireworks event in North Bransholme, Hull

A large fireworks event will take place on the estate on November 5. The annual event has been organised by North Bransholme Community Sports Forum. Last year, more than 3,500 people attended the event, outside the Dales Fitness Centre in Snowdon Way, and volunteers are being asked to come forward to help oversee car parking.

Bransholme East councillor Anita Harrison said: "It is one of the biggest events in the calendar for people on the estate. People come from all over the estate and they absolutely love it.

"It has got so big, we now have officials in from Hull City Council to make sure everything is being managed correctly. The idea of the event is to get everyone in one spot under the sky together and promote community spirit.

"We never get any trouble and everyone has a good time."

There will also be an outdoor winter barbecue, candy floss and a waffle cart from Swirlz ice cream parlour. The club, at Kilnwick Percy, near Pocklington, is gearing up to welcome around 600 visitors for the event, making it one of the largest private displays in the county.

Marketing manager Emily Stephenson said: "This display has a surprise theme, which we are keeping under our hats until the day arrives, but it's safe to say children and parents alike will love it. This is a huge display and we know it will be one of the most spectacular in the county."

The Fireworks Extravaganza is again expected to be a sell-out, with over 400 people to turn up on the KP Club's ground. VIP tickets can also be purchased, which provides visitors with stunning views from the Vale of York and the Balcony overlooking the display.
