Bridlington's lifeboat was called out in "atrocious" blizzard conditions last night when the Yorkshire Belle pleasure cruiser broke from its moorings.
An RNLI spokesman said the ship - which had returned from a winter service at Paull - was drifting dangerously in the harbour.
The inshore lifeboat crew was called at 9pm and helped secure the vessel in high seas.
Waves were crashing over the harbour wall and a large swell in the harbour made conditions all the more hazardous.
Despite overnight snow, no major issues have been reported on the roads today, but drivers are being warned to take care on untreated rural roads.
EYMS said all its bus services were running as normal.
Northern Rail, East Coast and Hull Trains are all reporting a "good" service.
Humberside Airport was open. Passengers are advised to check with their airline before travelling.
Officials said Hull City's match at Peterborough would go ahead.
But the University of Hull was forced to cancel an event that would have brought hundreds of potential students to the city. It has been reorganised for February.
Light snow showers are forecast for much of the next three days, becoming heavier on Sunday afternoon, according to the Met Office. The maximum temperature today will be 3C.
A Met Office spokesman said there could be 1cm to 2cm of fresh snow in places on Sunday, and up to 5cm on Monday, but a key concern was ice, with near or sub-zero temperatures persisting quite widely.
Temperatures could fall as low as -10C by Wednesday.
He added: "The public should be aware of the risk of localised difficult travel conditions due either to existing snow cover, or to icy surfaces." Updated, 2.30pm.
