The visitors from South Yorkshire utilised their pace to great effect and an early strike from Paul McKay set the tone for what was to come.
As the Tigers piled on the pressure in the second-half, in reality an equaliser never looked like coming.
And in injury time it was the Vikings who got the only other goal of the night, skipper Harry Middleton's wicked shot from outside the box beating City keeper Rory Watson to seal an away victory at the Eon Visual Media Stadium.
From the get-go, it was all about the men in blue as Doncaster's Liam Mandeville was halted in his tracks from having a clear shot on goal due to a foul.
Billy Whitehouse's pressurised attempt was just too strong as Watson saw the ball sail over, whilst Alex Peterson almost punished an error between City's Sam Topliss and Ben Clappison, but somehow misplaced his shot.
Doncaster's breakthrough came with a well-worked move the visitors had been threatening from the first whistle.
Middleton's initial delivery was met with precision from Alex Peterson. His header across goal found the feet of midfielder McKay with a low-drilled finish from close range. The lead was well-deserved.
The Tigers found opportunities limited, their two best chances falling to influential skipper Jonathan Margetts - before his involvement was cut short close to half-time after his saved header from Jahraldo-Martin's delivery curtailed his appearance as he was helped off the field.
Ben Hinchliffe replaced Margetts and almost became a super-sub with an attempt going close at the far-right post just moments after coming on.
Miscommunication and slippery conditions combined to frustrate the Tigers, but the response after going a goal down was at least encouraging.
Jahraldo-Martin was guilty of squirming a golden chance of an equaliser after Johan Ter Horst was fouled in the free-kick taker's territory. However, heads were in Hull City's hands as the ball sailed way over into the surrounding areas of North Ferriby.
Frustrations reached boiling point as City's Ryan Fallowfield was booked for a rash challenge - smartly substituted soon afterwards. Eoghan McCawl was also in the referee's book for a late tackle on Whitehouse.
With just minutes remaining, City piled on the pressure to snatch a late equaliser and a dramatic goal-mouth scramble ensued. Clappison was devastated to see his attempt from inches out saved by Marko Marosi - but worse was to come for the Tigers as their defeat was sealed in injury-time.
With City stretched at the back and seemingly low on energy, Middleton got his deserved goal with a wonderful shot from just outside the box, giving Watson no chance.
