AN ARCHITECT who allowed cameras to follow his progress as he built a home for his family will feature on TV tonight. Jamie Ashton took on his most satisfying challenge yet when he created a beautiful space for wife-to-be Joanne Scurr and their two daughters on an unloved patch of ground in the city.

The story behind the striking property will be told on More 4's Building The Dream this evening.

"Designing for yourself, you know what you want," said Jamie.

"The process is the same as designing for a client, but my brief is already in my head."

Jamie's firm, A Space Architects, which he runs with partner Howard Bruce, designed two other houses near the home in St Ninian's Walk, at the bottom of Victoria Avenue.

"To get to this last one has been quite nice because you can take ideas from each build," said Jamie.

And viewers will get a chance to see how the new pad has been created not only to look smart, but work for modern family life as Keita, five, and Matilda, two, grow.

"It works really well with young children because you can see where they are and what they are up to," said Joanne, a midwife.

"And I love our bedroom. It is so peaceful, you are not looked on by any other house and every window you look out of, it's just trees."

The episode of Building The Dream is on tonight at 9pm.
