ORGANISERS have promised one of the best and spookiest Halloween events yet ahead of Friday's Fright Night In The Woods. Thousands of people young and old are set to descend on Ash Plantation Woods in North Bransholme to celebrate the annual event.
The event is one of the biggest in the calendar on the estate and organisers have been working hard to make this the best yet.
For the first time there will be a fancy dress competition for adults as well as children.
Ash Plantation Woods will be transformed into a world of fear and spooks, bound to scare even the bravest of residents.
Bransholme East councillor Anita Harrison said: "We have organised all the usual stuff that people love, with a few extra surprises thrown in.
"I want to thank all the organisers and volunteers who make Halloween one of the very best nights of the year.
"It is going to be a brilliant evening and, personally, it is something I have been looking forward to for weeks and weeks. There will be so much for people to do and it is no wonder so many people come along.
"It really is one of those events that makes people proud to be from Bransholme."
The event will run from 5pm to 8pm.
There will be prizes for all the fancy dress winners, including adults.
Ray Drayton, manager at Dales Fitness, has worked particularly hard at arranging the event.
He said: "So much hard work has gone into this again this year and there are so many people that deserve a big pat on the back.
"Hopefully the weather stays dry but I doubt much will dampen the spirits when the event is in full flow. Lots and lots of people are talking about it and I really think it will be another great success.
"Hopefully, as many people will turn up and enjoy themselves."
Anne Baker, 41, plans to take her two children to the event.
She said: "My two sons have really been looking forward to it, so hopefully the weather will stay kind.
"We went last year and it was brilliant."
